Assessment CW2 – Two 1,500 word Essays – 70%
- Six essay questions will be released at 12 noon on Tuesday 10 December 2024. There will be one question on each of the six topics we cover in this module.
- You need to select TWO questions from the list and write an essay on each (two separate essays) in the format of one Microsoft Word document. You then have until Friday 13 December 2024 by 12noon (72 hours for completion) to submit this on Canvas.
- Unless you have extenuating circumstances where you are faced with a personal, medical or family problem, you can apply for online, with supporting evidence and we will contact you as soon as we can to offer an alternative assessment schedule.

Strategy Topic - The Cost Leadership business strategy in Bravo Dynamite is clearly supported by the low commitment HRM in operation in the company. Do you agree with this statement? Use relevant examples from the case study to evidence your arguments.
Reward Topic - Use Vroom’s model of expectancy theory to identify the problems with Bravo Dynamite’s reward strategy as a tool to motivate the workforce. You must
draw on recommended academic research plus case study evidence to
support your answer.
Summary – 8 steps to writing TWO great essays
- Prepare and submit excellent essays. The title of each essay is the question you have chosen to answer. See suggested document format on the next slide.
- Maintain essay structure – 1500 words for each of the two essay (+/-10%)
- Each essay must be between 1,350 and 1,650 words each to meet the word count requirements
- Have a clear introduction, main body and conclusion (without headings, bullets, diagrams)
- Define key terms supported with correct Cite them Right intext citations
- Refer to the Bravo Dynamite case study giving relevant excerpts
- Examples of real organisations who have increased organisational success through applying theoretical principles
- Avoid being descriptive – apply critical analysis.
- A minimum of 15 references for each essay to correct Cite them Right protocol

How to write a great essay #1
An academic essay is formed of writing in paragraphs WITHOUT the use of bullets, section headings or visuals. The only headings should be the title of your essay and one for your reference list.

Apply the theories explained in your essay by referring to the Bravo Dynamite case study.If your essay is on Strategic Leadership, explain how Bravo Dynamite are not strategic by referring to the case study and how by applying the theories that you have learned might improve their organisational performance.
Include examples of real organisations, with evidence, who have shown that by applying theoretical principles to their business they have achieved organisational success. For instance, ‘the introduction of flexible rewards at Tesco helped them reduce the turnover rate of their employees by 5% over twelve months (Wickens, 2023).’
