Individual Self Assessment Exercise
This part of the course is assessed through the writing of a reflection individually. The purpose of this reflection is for you to show your progress as a student about your understanding, knowledge and skills. It can also promote critical thinking about the various topics (Wallin & Adawi, 2018).
The purpose of this is not to report what was said in the class (or reading or lecture), but it is your view of what you have learnt and your insights on any of the aspects presented. While you may want to allude to the key ideas presented in the lecture, you need to reflect on how this has stimulated some other thoughts for you. It is suggested that after each class, you write a summary of the session as this will help you when thinking about the influence of the topic on your understanding and other ideas.
The following questions may help you write your reflective journal entries:
1) What did I learn? What there anything new to me? Was there something that changed my views and why? What themes could I analyse, and do I view as important? How did the various topics link to previous learning and other (work) experiences that I have had?
2) Was there anything that I did not understand? What went against my own (pre-existing) ideas? Why? What was less comprehensible? Why? Were there any questions that left me puzzled?
3) What difficulties, if any, have I experienced as part of the learning process?
4) What specific contribution has the course made to your thinking? What has each section taught you? How relevant will it be for you in other studies (e.g., other courses)?
5) How does this support your development as a student and in your future employment? Make a note of and reflect on the changes in your thinking that have come about.
The reflection is to be submitted as one submission with a minimum of 6 entries included in this submission. Total word count is 1000 words for each team member. All team members must include their individual work in the team report as one submission. Failure to do so will result in zero marks for this part of the assessment.
