Assignment task

Purpose

You are required to undertake an independent professional project researching an issue of concern within an organisation. This project will result in the production of a written project report. The project report will demonstrate your ability to develop an in depth understanding of your research topic through a detailed and focused review of the current academic literature, and to gather and analyse both primary and secondary research data. It will also show your ability to draw conclusions from data, and provide evidence based recommendations to the organisation in question.

This is a significant piece of work that will also test your abilities of time management, project management, communication skills, and independent learning. These are all key skills required in the workplace.

Task

You are required to produce an 8,000 word project report detailing your research, and a 1,000 word reflective account of your research journey. All word counts are +/- 10%.

Throughout the module you will be expected to take part in formative assessments, in particular participating in action learning sets, as well as group and 1-2-1 sessions with your supervisor. These activities are very important as they will provide you with support and guidance from your peers and tutors.

Activities

1. Research and select a business issue within an organisation. The organisation can be one in which you have been/ are employed (but it does not have to be) and can be based anywhere in the world. You should identify an issue that relates to a core topic from your studies (eg human resource

You will need to formulate some research questions that you will aim to answer using your research. You should devise a plan for the collection of primary data using your chosen method(s) and obtain ethical agreement for the collection of data. You should also consider identifying potential secondary data sets that can help you answer those research questions. (LO2).
