Assessment Instructions
The assessment requires you to plan, develop and evaluate a public health promotion project / intervention. This module is assessed on a 15-minute oral presentation. You may choose to present on one of the following public health topics: Cancer, sleep disorder, substance misuse, mental health, alcohol abuse, knife crime, sexual health issue. Alternatively, you may choose your own topic.
You are required to plan and implement a public health campaign intervention on the university’s campus. You will distribute campaign materials gotten from charity organisations based on your selected topic. You will be required to contact minimum of 10 people to discuss health promotion campaign with them about the selected health issue. The awareness campaign will take place in week 11 of the semester (2nd April 2025). The campaign session will take place within the class hours with lecturers on-ground to coordinate and support the awareness campaign.
YOUR TOPIC MUST BE A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE AND MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MODULE. This includes ensuring:
- There is robust epidemiology data available.
- Implementation of promotion awareness campaign activities based on selected topic
- There is sufficient literature evidence review (studies, journal articles and research).
- Robust evaluation of campaign and recommendation presented.
If you choose your own public health topic, YOU MUST GAIN APPROVAL FROM THE MODULE LEADER AND GET CAMPAIGN MATERIALS FROM RELATED CHARITY ORGANISATION WHICH MUST BE PRESENTED BY WEEK 8.
- Your presentation should discuss the planning and delivery of the health promotion, intervention and/ or event in relation to your topic.
- You are required to develop a ten slides presentation, using Microsoft PowerPoint based on the campaign outcome.
- Your presentation should be a maximum of ten slides, excluding the title page and references.
- Your presentation must include recorded video on each slide. Use of presentation notes section is strongly recommended, but not compulsory.
- Be consistent in your use of fonts, font size and type for headings, sub-heading and other contents.

You should ensure to base your intervention on evidence. For example, diabetes as health issue, you can select one contributing factor such as healthy meals.
