- Your summative assessment for this module is made up of this 2500-word submission, which accounts for 100% of your final module mark.
- A total of 100 marks are available for this module assessment and you are required to achieve minimum 50% to pass this module.

- You are required to submit all elements of your assessment in one Word document, via The Hub Assessment area. Only submissions made via the specified mode will be accepted and hard copies or any other digital form of submissions (such as via email or pen drive etc.) will not be accepted.

Assessment Brief
This assessment brief gives you an overview of the summative assessment of this module. The learning outcomes below will be tested in the assessment contained in this brief.
1. MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES (LOS)
LO1: Critically evaluate the value of emerging technologies as they apply to a business context LO2: Appraise various emerging technologies and the value of these to business
LO3: Critically evaluate trends of technology and their application to business strategy
2. ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW
In this assignment you will write a two-part report about emerging technology in the context of an organisation of your choice. You will also be assessed on the overall professionalism of your report and your use of referencing (10% of module mark).
Assessment Part 1 (60% of module marks)
In this part of the assessment, you will need to reflect the learnings throughout this module and consider the learning outcomes particularly:
- LO1: Critically evaluate the value of emerging technologies as they apply to a business context
- LO2: Appraise various emerging technologies and the value of these to business
Write a report for external consumption, of no more than 1500 words, that identifies, appraises, and evaluates two emerging technologies that could be (further) adopted within an organisation of your choice. This report should be clearly articulated within the context of your chosen organisation and make use of a range of appropriate sources to support your arguments.
See section 3 of this brief for the recommended structure of this part of the report.
Assessment Part 2 (40% of module marks)
In this part of the assessment, you will need to reflect the learnings throughout this module and consider the learning outcome particularly:
- LO3: Critically evaluate trends of technology and their application to business strategy
Write a report for external consumption, of no more than 1000 words, that identifies and evaluates a trend in technology that has the potential to influence the strategic direction of your selected organisation. This report should be clearly articulated within your
selected organisational context and make use of a range of appropriate sources to support your arguments.
See section 3 of this brief for the recommended structure of this part of the report.
3. ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
Your summative report (maximum 2,500 words) should include:
- A completed Cover Sheet (not included in word count)
- Executive Summary (at most 300 words, not included in word count): An overview of your findings, highlighting the current state of emerging technology within your selected organisation and future opportunities for adopting emerging technology.
- Part 1: Adopting Emerging Technologies at your Organisation (approx. 1,500 words total)
(a) Introduction (approx. 300 words): describe the context your selected organisation currently operates in and identify any factors that you believe would be relevant to the adoption of the emerging technologies you discuss in this part of the report.
(b) Emerging Technologies (approx. 1000 words): identify and analyse two distinct emerging technologies, either of which may have begun to be adopted or could be adopted in the future by your selected organisation. This should include for each technology:
- an explanation of why it should be considered emerging given the organisational context,
- an analysis of the extent of its adoption within your selected organisation to date, and how it could be (further) adopted by your selected organisation, and
- a critical appraisal of its value within the organisational context of your selected organisation.
(c) Conclusion (approx. 200 words): critically evaluate the two technologies identified in the previous section and make clear recommendation(s) for your selected organisation around the adoption of them, considering their potential value to your selected organisation.
- Part 2: A Future Trend in Technology and your Organisation’s Strategic Direction (approx. 1000 words total)
(d) Introduction (approx. 300 words): building on your introduction from part 1, describe the current strategic direction that your selected organisation is taking.
(e) A Future Trend in Technology (approx. 500 words): identify and critically evaluate a specific trend in technology in the context of your selected organisation and its strategic direction.
(f) Conclusion (approx. 200 words): make clear recommendations for your selected organisation based on your analysis of its current strategic direction and the potential impact of the trend in technology you identified.
- References (not included in word count): list the academic research cited within your project, using the Harvard reference format.
- Appendices (not included in word count and not marked): additional content supporting the findings within your report.
