Additional information
|
The research proposal should consider the central issues or questions the student wishes to address in their postgraduate dissertation. Where possible it will develop from or compliment the topic proposal poster that was submitted in the first piece of coursework in this module.
The research proposal should outline the general area of study and refer to the current state of knowledge or debates in the topic. It allows students to communicate their original ideas in an evaluative, clear and critical way.
It will seek to illustrate that the research they are proposing to undertake in their dissertation is feasible, logical and sufficiently challenging to be worthy of a masters qualification. It allows the proposer to identify the likely external significance of the subject and demonstrate that they have given pragmatic thought and consideration to how the dissertation will be conducted, managed and delivered within the time constraints and review any other limitations relevant at the time of implementation. It will also start to consider any ethical considerations and approaches that may need to be incorporated into the research process as well as initial consideration of the potential methodology to be used.
The proposal will be submitted at the start of the Summer term and the credits accruing to the work and this module will thus form part of the 3rd term of the postgraduate marks.
