LFBM101 – ACADEMIC AND EMPLOYABILTY SKILLS
CANVAS SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Tuesday, 19th August 2025 before 2pm.

Assessment Methods:
This module has two-part assessment:
- Option 1: 2,000 words Reflective Journal (100%). This will test all learning outcomes.
- Option 2: 30 Minutes Oral Presentation (100%). This will test all learning outcomes.
Option 1: Reflective Journal Task:
You are required to write a 2,000 words reflection via separate journal/diary entries of your experiences on this module which, should include (but is not restricted to):
- What you have learned in the module.
- The specific skills you have acquired.
- What difficulties you encountered in the study of the module and what in your estimation caused them.
- How were you able to overcome the difficulties and what strategies you found helpful.
Total Marks – 100%
Option 2: 30 Minutes Oral Presentation Task:
A 30 Minute Individual Oral Presentation using not more than 15 PowerPoint slides covering your reflection via separate journal /diary entries of your experiences on this module which, should include (but is not restricted to):
- What you have learned in the module.
- The specific skills you have acquired.
- What difficulties you encountered in the study of the module and what in your estimation caused them.
- How were you able to overcome the difficulties and what strategies you found helpful.

Requirements for Journal/Diary Entries:
You will need to keep a regular reflective journal/diary on your experiences of, and feelings about the weekly sessions. This should be done on a single word document as below. Each journal/diary entry should be based on both the lecture and workshop, dated, and state the topic, as in the example below: Week 2a Tuesday 23rd & Friday 26th August 2022 Topic: Communication Skills: ‘Seminars and Discussions’
The minimum number of journal entries for submission is 6 (i.e., 1 per week for each week of the module) in order to show progress. The maximum is 12, and 8 or 9 would be normal out of a possible
12. (Doing 12 gives you more to choose from at the end as it is likely you will have more to say in some entries than others). Guidance and suggestions on how to structure your journal entries so they cover the requirements will be given in the first session.
