Brief:

Main Portfolio

The main portfolio should be between 9,000-10,000 words in length (excluding cover page, contents page, tables, figures, reference list and appendices). This is the stage of the MBA Professional Project and provides you with the opportunity to show that you have gained the necessary skills and knowledge in order to organise and conduct a research project. It should demonstrate that you are skilled in identifying an area, or areas, suitable for research; setting research/project objectives; locating, organising and critically analysing the relevant primary and secondary data as well as authoritative literature; devising an appropriate research methodology or project plan, and analysing the primary data selected and drawing on the literature in the field; drawing conclusions; and if appropriate, making relevant recommendations and indications of areas for further research.

The portfolio is a written project output that may lend itself to a more flexible style of presentation that might be required to demonstrate some degree of creativity, innovation and a documentation of your personal learning and research/project journey. However, the portfolio must have chapters that provide a structure in the work/ Where the subject is based around a business or an applied situation, recommendations for action are also required Word Count. You are expected to revise and edit your written project output/portfolio to remain within +/- 10% of the allocated word limit for that piece of work. All tables, figures, appendices and bibliography/reference list DO NOT count towards the overall word limit.
